Welcome to the UEMS Section and Board for Emergency Medicine
This website is designed to be a platform for communication, a source of information, and a repository for useful documents.
The UEMS Section and Board for Emergency Medicine (EM) are charged with the responsibility of developing, upholding, and accrediting standards for postgraduate training in EM. An example of this is the European Training Requirements, which were ratified in April 2019. This supports free mobility in Europe for trained specialists, an underlying principle of the UEMS.
Another important function of the UEMS, hence the Section for EM, is to represent EM and the professional interests of European Medical Specialists in EM in the context of the EU and its authorities. It is a natural and important mission to support the development of EM as a primary specialty in countries where the specialty does not exist.
An important part of promoting the professional interests of European Emergency Medicine specialists includes setting standards for a sustainable working environment.
